DNA strands are made of nucleotides
each nucleotide consists of one sugar molecule, one phosphate molecule, and one of the four different 'bases'.
the sugar and phosphate molecules in the nucleotides form a 'backbone' to the DNA strands.
The four different bases are A,T,C and G-one joins to each sugar
