The Spartacist Uprising: 

  • 5th-12th January 1919. 
  • Berlin. 
  • KPD ( a Communist group) attempted to seize the political power from the government through an armed revolt. They wanted to take control and make Germany Communist. 
  • The leaders were Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht. 
  • The Ebert/the government ordered the Freikorps to crush the revolt. The Freikorp were opponents of Communism and supporters of the Weimar Republic. 
  • Over 1500 people had been killed by the…
