Functions of the Skeleton:
- Bony Framework
- Protection of vital organs
- Levers for movement
- Ligament and tendon attachment
- Blood cell production
- Mineral storage
The Skeleton is divided into two parts:
Axial Skeleton - Skull, Spine, and Ribs.
Appendicular Skeleton - Pelvis, Arms, Feet, Legs, and Shoulder Girdle.
There are five types of bone classifications:
- Long Bones
- Short Bones
- Flat Bones
- Irregular Bones
