The president doesn’t have to sign bills into law

The regular veto is a much-used weapon – the threat of it can also be used as a bargaining tool

From George Washington to George bush 1500 regular vetoes had been used

Pocket vetoes at the end of congressional sessions – can’t be overridden by Congress

Gorge H.W. Bush used 15 pocket vetoes

During his first term Obama used 2 regular vetoes and congress failed to override either of them…
