• However at times they can be ideologically similar, Bush and Obama both fighting for greater reform of education
• Americans also far more polarised in terms of policy, republicans blocking gun control in 2013
• However they can come together in times of crisis, congress backing Bush after 9/11 on anti terror reforms
• Trump polarises views massi ely, southern states such as Alabama voting for him whereas california dosen't
• However at times the nation can rally behind a certain politician, Bush after 9/11
• The media also massively polarises views, Fox news always conservative whereas CNN more left
