The Person of Jesus Christ

4.1 The Person of Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ's authority as a liberator:

-Jesus challenged religious authority:

~Jesus forgave sins, which only God could do

~criticised for eating with the outcasts

~accused of not following Sabbath laws and didn't respect purification laws, but said following laws was not the same as worshipping God properly

Was Jesus only a teacher of wisdom?

-some suggest that his main aim was to purify Judaism rather than start a new religion

-much of Jesus' ministry was made up of him teaching

-when the Gospel is stripped down, we are left with a teacher of wisdom

Was Jesus more than a political liberator?

-Jesus' challenges to the authorities at that time were significant

-Jesus did still advocate Christians being lawful citizens

-Jesus stopped his followers using violence

Was Jesus' relationship with God
