The Periodic Table

On the periodic table the rows are the periods and the columns are the groups.

Periods tell us how many shells an element has. The elements at the bottom of the periodic table have the most shells, therefore the most energy.

The groups tell us how many electrons are in the outer shell. Therefore, elements in the same group will react in a similar way because they all need to lose/gain the same amount of electrons to get a full outer shell.
