Wundt = the father of psychology. He established the first psychology lab in Germany 1879. Wundt was particulary influential as he was the first psychologist to move away from philosophical origins, and class psychology as a science, due to the new standardised and observable methodology.

Introspection = was the first systematic and experimental way of studying human behaviour. Introspection breaks down consciousness into thoughts, feelings and sensations.

To analyse introspection, Wundt asked participants to report on these areas in response to a stimuli. Eg, a ticking metronome. This process was done in standardised, controlled conditions, allowing
