The Occupiers' Liability Act 1975

This Act applies to lawful visitors with permission, whether it is expressed or implied.

The duty owed by occupiers to adults is in S2 (2) of this Act and is that occupiers must "take care in all the circumstances to reasonably see that visitors are reasonably safe using the premises for what they are invited". For example in Laverton v Kiapasha Takeaway the takeaway did as much as was reasonable to make the visitor safe by mopping the floor.

It was said in Dean v DL that occupiers can't go agains all risks, only those you reasonably foresee as an issue and can do something about.
