- The MSM consists of 3 stores
- Sensory register, short-term memory, long-term memory
- Info enters sensory register - large capacity - sensors constantly recieving information
- Most info recieves no attention - duration is limited (milliseconds)
- Info which is attended to, enters the STM - if info is rehersed in STM, will create LTM
- LTM has potentially unlimited duration and capacity
- Strength - supports labatory evidence
- Miller found duration of STM is 7+/-2
- Bahrick found duration of LTM is approx 48 years
