Morocco was an uncolonised African country. France was eager to add to their empire. Germany objected to France taking over Morocco and so called an international ocnference to discuss the future of Morocco. The Algeciras conference took place in 1906, Germany was forced to back down by British, Russian, Italian and Spanish support for France taking control of Morocco's police and banks.
