The Manhunt Poetry Analysis

Context - The poem belongs to a collection called 'not dead' which explores how soldiers and their families were affected by war and conflict, The poem is about a soldier who in Bosnia as a peace keeper in the 1990's. He did not expect that be fighting on the mission but he was badly injured and therfore discharged. 

Structure + form - The ending is ambiguous. Her search is not totally successful at the end as she comes close but realises the emotional scars and wounds will never heal and she cannot do anything to heal it.  It is written in couplets that show how dissjointed and fragemented this soldier is. It also suggest that this is how it also caused gaps in the relationship. It is written in first person which mke it more believable and allows readwe to empathise and understand more. 

Themes - War, the affects that it can have as it reforms and changes the person negatively, focuses on physical phscological affects. Love, showing the affect that war can have on love an relationships. 

Language Analysis - 

The title 'the manhunt' is a pun, firstly it could imply that the police are in search to capture a crminal. Secondly, the fact that its a search for a man sounds threatening and ominous.
