The trial of Strafford - November 1940
- The Long Parliament impeached Strafford because they were worried he would bring an Irish army to England to support Charles
- They accused him of 'constructive treason', claiming his actions had divided the King and his people
- Act of Attainder: Parliament would vote on Strafford's guilt - Charles was reluctant to sign but did because of public pressure, pressure from Parliament and fears that a rebellion would take place if he did not
- Strafford was executed in May 1641 and Charles blamed Parliament
