1. A 6-carbon compound called Ribulose Biphosphate (RuBP) is fixated by carbon dioxide, & is catalysed by the enzyme RuBisco, to form another 6-carbon compound called hexose biphosphate.

2. Hexose biphosphate is then split into two 3-carbon compounds
