The Humanistic Approach
Introduction
Carl Rogers and Abraham Maslow created the humanistic approach in the 1950's after the development of the behaviourist and the psychodynamic approach. They wanted to create an all round 'positive' approach to human behaviour. It included concepts such as self-actualisation, the self, congruence( and incongruence) conditions of worth, client centred therapy and free will.
