How Gustav Stresemann Solved Hyperinflation 

  • In an attempt to solve the issue of hyperinflation, Gustav Stresemann (appointed chancellor by Ebert in 1923) called off the strike in the Ruhr and removed some state Governments of whom he thought would cause trouble.
  • With the help of the Commissioner for Currency, H. Schacht, Stresemann issued a new temporary currency called the Rentenmark. Doing this meant that he could remove the zeros out of the cost of goods and re-set
