The Five Pillars of Islam

The five pillars are the fundemental beliefs upon which Islam is founded. They are part of the Muslim identity and encourage purity, faith in Allah and community solidarity. The frequency of how often they are performed varies with some daily requirements, some annually and the pilgrimage at least once in a lifetime.

Shahada - The decleration of faith in Allah as the one god and Muhammad (pbuh) as his profit. They will say a version of this several times a day, whisper it in the ear of a newborn baby, teach it to children from a young age and hope it will be their last words. There are no exceptions to upholding this pillar - if you don't have faith in Allah then you are not considered a muslim.
