Representation of the people acts
- First in 1832, did little
- Second in 1867, did slightly more but still plaugued with loopholes
- 1833 217 MPs were sons of peers
- after 1867 still two seats per constituency, gave clear power to the aristocracy
- Also south remained dominant in parliament
Redistribution +representation acts, 1880s
- 1884 act extended the electorate and increased urban constituents, very good
- 1885 act redistributed seats from the south to northern industrial towns, more fair
