The Diet

Literal meaning = Teen or young woman decided not to eat, loses a lot of weight as a result to try & adapt to society.

Figuarative meaning = Insecurity within women. Struggling to keep her identity, loses herself in the process of the diet. Conforming to society's demands in terms of body shapes results in unhappiness. 

Structure: 

cylical poem = the girl ends up back in the same body despite all of her hard work. Shows how impossible it is to reach society's expectations, but her trying to achieve them will have a lasting impact on her health. 

internal rhyme & listing = adds a fast and deliberately irritating tone. Adds to a sense of fantasy, ironic because the problem is the reality of society.
