the dazhai commune's methods were a model for china to follow
a major flood in 1963 destroyed dazhai however they rebuilt themselves with only peasant labout which resulted in record grain production
developments in dazhai before the Great Leap Forward:
When the Dazhai were liberated from the japanese they began land reform
1946 the first mutual aid team was set up as 60% of agricultural land was owned by four wealthy families
15 families haf to join to work in their fields and help eachother during shifts
chen yonggui set up another mutual aid team and was very successful-49 families joined
chen became the leader of the dazhai commune and believed everyone should work together
1952-a cooperative was set up…
