Studies information processing i.e ways we extract, store and retreive information which helps guide our behaviour.

The cognitive approach studies mental processes indirectly by inferring what goes on as a result of a measured behaviour.

Schemas

A schema is a cognitive framework that helps organise and interpret information in the brain.

They're useful as they allow us to to deal with situations involving alot of information easily (like the journey to work on trains).

However they can also limit our imaination and thinking.
