Why was Russia so hard to govern?

  • Political : Russia was an autocratic state which many people disagreed with.
  • Geography : Russia had a large empire, covering many nations, many people speaking different languages all ruled by one person. 
  • Social : There was a social hierarchy in Russia, a large divide between the rich and poor. 
  • Economic : There were lots of people out of work, meaning many people lived in poverty.

The Russian Population

  • 80% of Russia's population were peasants.
  • They lived in poverty in the countryside, with no education and only 40 years…
