The 1929 Election

A revival of Liberal idealism highlighted the lack of imaginative Conservative policies to deal with unemployment. Lloyg George and the Liberals produced new ideas in their pamphlet "we can conquer unemployment". It promised public works, new roads and deficit financing. The Liberals offered a radical alternative while Labour moved away from socialism.
