The Teleological Argument For The Existence Of God
Put forward by Aquinas
He suggested that ...
1) All natural things show evidence of a design
2) This suggests that there must be something that had to of designed everything and direct their creations
3) Things that lack knowledge cannot achieve anything unless they are directed by something that as a greater knowledge
4) Therefor there must be an intelligent being that directs everyone to their purpose
5) This is god
William Paley saw Aquinas's argument and built upon his ideas to come up with an argument of his own. His argument was split into to parts; purpose and regularity
