Surviving Ethnic Sports and Games in the UK
- Robert Dover’s Cotswold Olympics is a multi-sport occasion which was originally established by permission of James I in 1605
- It was an annual event until 1851 when it was disrupted by hooligans
- Revived in Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire on 1963 and continue today
- Original activities ranged from throwing the sledgehammer, sword fighting and horse riding, to shin kicking, dancing, fireworks and picnicking
- Today the celebrations include wrestling, Morris dancers, cross-country running, hot air ballooning, marching bands and fireworks
