Stressed Civil servants- Marmot et al

The participants that took part were all male and female civil servants aged between 35 and 55. They were all London base and their departments were sent an introductory letter and screening questionnaire as well as offering a screening for cardiovascular disease. There was a response rate of 73% and over 10,000 people were examined (just under 7000 men and over 3000 women).

A year later the participants were sent a postal questionnaire and then again 2 years later. The participation rates for these 2 phases were 79% and 83% respectively. There was an overall participation rate of 72% across all 3
