- findings have been shown to be generalisable, as studies have been done in multiple countries using cross-cultural research methods and meta-analysis

- reliability can be tested for, so the task can be replicated and Ainsworth herself replicated the study numerous times, as well as other researchers

- the results of the studies have been shown not to be ethnocentric (confined to one culture)

- a naturalistic observation of studying babies and their mother's in real homes, as Ainsworth did for her Ugandan studies, strengthens her conclusions and findings, as they are similarr to those of naturalistic settings
