-Sit-ins, mass meetings, peaceful protests and the boycott of shops

-Important Faces: Freddie Shuttles and Martin Luther King Jr

-Provoking Bull Connor to use violence against peaceful protestors

-May 2nd: 6000 students marched and 900 were arrested

-May 3rd: More marched but jails were full so police were ordered to use fire hoses, dogs and batons against students. Wide media coverage.
