-The opening stanza is unlike a Spenserian stanza because it begins with the Trochee 'Cou-rage!'.
-This bold stress on the first syllable suggests Ulysses' own voice.
-Sets a tone of strength which will contrast later on with the mens lethargy
-The heavy rhyme of the long vowel in 'soon/afternoon/swoon/moon/' and 'dream/stream/seem' immidiatley give the impression of langour.
