Stanislavski and realism


Stanisklavski is a renowned drama practitioner, born in 1863 and died in 1938. During 1917, political turmoil affected drama and Stanislavski aimed to appease Russian dictator Stalin so that theatre would survive. His plays at this time often echoed that of the USSR's work in a supportive light. He was a dedicated follower of realism, a nineteenth century style of drama which portrayed
