APC- Antigen presenting cell

  • Macrophages that display ‘non-self’ peptides (foreign protein)
  • Start as phagocyte that engulfs bacteria or virus
  • Breaks it down and presents foreign antigen on cell membrane
  • Bind with T-helper cells with complementary CD4 receptors
  •  APC can also come from B-Cells by binding with a specific pathogen or from infected cells presenting antigens on cell surface

  • Specific binding to ANTIGEN
  • Using complementary CD4 protein
  • On bonding
