Places are more than just their geographical location, they can be characterised by many different factors such as:
- their demographic
- media representation
- the physical factors
- the human factors
- the sense of place
Endogenous and Exogenous factors can characterise a place
Endogenous factors are internal factors that shape a places characteristics such as topography and the infrastructure
Exogenous factors are ones that are external and shape characteristics. These can be the relationships with other places
There are two types of people when visiting/ talking about an area:
Insiders - people who have an emotional attatchment to a place and familar with that place e.g. students and their school
