                            Solve simultaneously                                     (1)    2x + 3y = 6

   1st label your equations 1 and 2                                            (2)     x + y = 1    x2

  make either x or y the same                                   2x + 3y = 6

                                                                                 2x

6-12 is not -12, its -6, therefore x would equal -3, and if you check using the other equation it doesn't work with -6, it works with -3
