Since 1960 was heavily managed -artifical channels & culverts built to divert river below ground ad it passed through Greenwhich
As a result to the increased flood risk due to continued Urban development in Lewisham & Greenwich more needs to be done to protect the area from flooding
Hard engineering methods - widening & deepening ocnsidered but EA chose Sustainable soft approach
