Social Survey invovles obtaining information in a standardized from large groups of people. The main survet methods include questionnaires and structured interviews.

Pre-coded or closed questionnaires: respondedetns chosae from a limited range of respeonses. The m,ain problemw ritht hsi particluarv social survye is that there is an imposition problem, which refers to the risk that the reseacrher might be imposing thier view, or framework on respondents rather than getting at what they really think. 

Open-ended questionnaires: Even though they have set questions there is no pre-set choice of answers. These types of questionnaires allows the respndent to write their own answers and dicate them in interviews. 

Structured interviews with closed questions: The interviewer can select a target group and can clarify any answers the respondent may be unsure about reducing the effcet of misinterpreatation on questions found in questioannires. However, with the interviewer present there is an imposing problem and its time consuming. In comparsion to questionnaires, the compeletion rate is smaller as hundreds can do the questions at the same time whereas an interviewer can only do one at a time.
