Emotios have 'evolved through their adaptive value in dealing with fundermental life tasks' Ekman 1992

Some emotions are pan-cultural such as joy, saddness, fear, anger, suprise and disgust which as all the basic emotions.

'display rules' can vary epending on organisations and guidlines regarding emtional expressions such as flight attendents always have to smile, its not because they are necessary happy.

Display of saddness can be used strategically. In addition anger can be used by managers to get things done rather than them feeling actually angry. Anger and status are linked for example expressions of anger from low-status others are more likely to arouse negative affective reactions than expressions of anger from high status others.
