Women are responsible for collecting water. Collecting water can take hours unless there is a well in the village. Wells provide water for people and animals which are kept for food and transport. the water is also used to grow the main food crop millet. If a village has a well it provides income as people sell water on market day. 80% of people don't have access to clean water. 50% of child sickness in the world is caused by poor water and bad sanitation.
