The first assumption of SLT is that behaviour is due to observation and imitation of relevant role models.
Bandura assumes that all behaviour is a product of environmental influences which are learnt as a result of watching and copying role models.
SLT has a practical application - used to explain how aggression is learnt eg child may learn aggressive behaviour from watching parent, memorising the action and then wanting to be aggressive. This leads to imitation. Evidence - Bandura Bobo doll study. Children watched an adult play aggressively with a bobo doll and it was found children who watch aggressive model also displayed aggression. This shows aggression is at least due to observation and imitation of relevant role models in environment.
