The British economoy depended heavily on slaves ( 100,000's of salves).
Most slaves worked in the southern colonies this meant:
- cheap workforce as did not have to pay workers
- had a variety of skills and experience
- there was roughly 80% of population made up of salves in south
Britian brought a asiento which means only Britian could trade slaves.
But they payed a lot of money for it and had to give Spain a certain amount of slaves a year. Also the price of slaves was going down. This was a bad deal for Britian.
