Significance of Simon de Montford

Simon de Montford was the leader of the barons. He is often referred to as the father of democracy. He wanted the people to have a bigger say in decisions. 

He created the Provisions of Oxford and Westminster, challenging the King’s authority and setting out what a parliament should be more like. It was like the magna carta as it limited the king’s power.
