Method:
-nonsense trigrams
-recall after 3,6,9,12,18 seconds
-used interference task
Results:
-after 3 seconds 80% recalled
-after 18 seconds 10% recalled
Conclusion:
-rehearsal prevented= very little stays after 18 seconds
Evaluation:
-lab exp, so variable tightly controlled
-lacks ecological validity
-meaningful 'real life' memories last longer

Method:
-string of letters or digits
-repeat in same order
-letters or digits increased until ppt failed to recall correctly
Results:
-recalled about 7 letters and 9 digits
