Molecular Shape deppends on the number of electron pairs in the outer orbital. The electron-pair repulsion theory relates to shape of molecules.
- electrons are negatively charged so each electron pair will repel the other pairs as much as they can
- however different types of electron pairs affect how far they repel each other
- the greatest angles are between lone pairs and this often means bonded pairs are reduced because they are pushed together by the lone pairs.
