SERIES CIRCUITS

?

Series Circuits

  • Resistance= ohms
  • Current= amps
  • potential difference (voltage)= volts
  • THE SAME CURRENT PASSES THROUGH COMPONENTS IN SERIES WITH EACH OTHER.

components: eg bulbs

if the same number of electrons passes through each component every second= the same current passes through as well. There is only 1 pathway the current can follow.

  • THE TOTAL POTENTIAL DIFFERENCE OF THE VOLTAGE SUPPLY IN A SERIES CIRCUIT IS SHARED BETWEEN THE COMPONENTS.

the total PD from the cell is basically the voltage of the cell- it is the measure of energy transferred from the cell by each electron that passes through it -->

THAT voltage is then shared between the components eg bulbs
