Series and Parallel Circuits

Series Circuits- The series circuit is the most simple out of the two circuits

  • The current through each component is the same (A1 = A2 = A3)
  • The potential difference (voltage) across each component adds up to the potential difference of the battery (V1 = V2 + V3)
  • The potential difference is the largest across the component with the greatest resistance because more energy is transferred

Parallel Circuits- This circuit is a little more complicated but is more commonly used

  • The p.d across each component is equal
