- What does being good in heatlh mean:
- Eating a healthy, balanced diet
- Drinking plenty of water
- Being physically active
- Having enough sleep and relaxation
- Avoiding too much stress
- Causes of diet-related disease:
- Obesity:
- Body not in energy balance - to much energy consumed and not used for physical activity
- Many foods and soft drinks are energy dense
- Can lead to heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, diabetes, pain in joints and stroke
- Cardiovascular disease (CVD):
- High blood pressure can lead to damage to the heart, kidneys, eyes etc
- Can be caused by too much salt in the diet, obesity, smoking, lack of exercise, alcohol, stress
- In coronary heart disease blood vessels in heart can become blocked by fatty deposits which prevent oxygen reaching the heart muscle and causes a heart attack
