In diffusion process, the substances move down the concentration gradien, the substances move from an area with high concentration to an area with a low concentration.

Diffusion happens in the living system, it explains the movement of the carbon dioxide in leaves.

In the osmosis process, water  moves down from a high concentration to a low concentration water concentration, through a partially permeable membrane. The osmosis hair root cells allow the plant to absorb water from the soil.
