Percentage yield
Chemistry
- The percentage yield tells you about the overall success of an experiment. It compares what you think you should get to what you actually get. (predicted and actual yield)
- Actual and predicted yields:
- The more reactants you start with the higher the actual yield will be
- The predicted yield is calcualted by a balanced reaction equation
- Formula
- Percentage yield = actual yield (g)
- predicted yield (g)
- The maximum percentage is 100, so therefore a percentage yield is always between 0 and 100%
- 100% means you will get all the product you expect
- 50% means you will…
