Mitochondira:
What's in a cell?
DNA: - Molecule that is tighlty coiled inside the nucleus of a cell and it forms structures called chromosomes.
- One section of a chromosome is called a gene.
Mitochrondria: - Cell respiration is carried out in the mitochondria.During the respiration energy is released from glucose in the presence of oxygen.
- Liver & muscle cells need large amounts of energy to carry out their functions and this is why they need more mitochondria.
DNA & chromosomes:
Chromosomes = long coiled molecules of DNA divided up into regions called genes.
- DNA molecules have two strands coiled to a double helix and this double helix has cross links made of chemicals called bases.
- There are 4 different bases in DNA and these are A&T, G&C.
Ribosomes:
- A ribosome is a structure inside a cell that easily be seen.
- Ribosomes are found inside the cyptoplasm and they are used when protein is being made.
Genetic code:
- All…
