Schizophrenia is a type of psychosis characterised by disruption of cognition and emotion.

Positive symptoms appear to reflect an excess of normal functioning.

Negative symptoms appear to reflect a loss of normal functioning.

Speech poverty is the lessening of speech fluency and productivity.

Avolition is the reduction, diificulty, or inability to intitiate and persist in goal-directed behaviour.

Delusions are firmly held incorrect beliefs that are caused by distortions of reasoning or misinterpretations of perceptions or experiences. 

Hallucinations are distortions of perception in any of the senses. 

Co-morbidity refers to the extent that two or more conditions occur simultaneously in a patient.

Culture is the rules, customs, morals that bind people together.

Gender bias refers to the tendency to describe the behaviour of men and women in a theory that may not represnt accurately the characteristics of either gender.
