Savage-Rumbaugh
Aim: To study the language acquisition of two pygmy chimpanzees.
Sample: Kanzi and Mulika
Method: Longitudinal study
Prodedure: 1- Environment - 55 acres of forest, food placed in 17 locations, domestoc chores such as washing up, play with toys and games.
2- Communication System- lexigram, visual symbol system, lit up when pressed, Kanzi started with 8, by the end had 256 lexigrams, connected to an electronic voice synthesiser, Kanzi understood spoken english, keyboards attached to computers, outdoors Kanzi used portable keyboards.
